I am a computer idiot and I have no way about how to create a password on a Word 2010 document. I would like to create a password on my Word 2010 document and then to protect a quite important Word file to prevent other persons to open it. That is an order of my boss and I have to follow his indication. But I am major in art and I have no idea about how to password protect a Word document 2010 at all. So tell me how to do that please. It is very and very simple to password protect Word document, no matter the version is Word 2010, 2013, 2007 or 2003. Believe it or not, it is not a big problem to know how to password protect Word document 2010.

Firstly, you should open your target Word 2010 document successfully. Believe that the Word document should be able to open, if the Word document is already been password protected, you have to unlock it firstly or type the right password.

Secondly, click the File button on the left and then it will pop up a drop-down menu. It is in the fifth option and you can't miss it.

Thirdly, after clicking the Info button, you will see two sub options, one is Compatibility Mode, and the other is Permissions.
